The Mumbai Indians were handed the bat first for the first time at the Wankhede Stadium. Inform Rohit Sharma came in to bat alongside Ryan Rickelton. The duo once again scored quick runs at the top, while Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Mayank Yadav after being hit for two huge sixes earlier in the over.

Despite Sharma’s dismissal, Rickelton served his part of the score as he put on a good 2nd wicket partnership and scored his second fifty of his IPL career. Will Jacks once again had a start but could not convert it to a big one past the terrible thirties.

Suryakumar Yadav once again scored quick runs as he also surpassed Gujarat Titans youngster Sai Sudarshan in the list of Orange Cap holders. Naman Dhir and Corbin Bosch gave Mumbai the perfect ending to their innings, scoring runs constantly at the top.

MI bowlers trash the LSG batting lineup

Though LSG has not had the reputation of chasing big totals, their power-packed batting unit is capable of making anything possible. The likes of Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram made the opening pair. Markram was dismissed by Bumrah in the third over, giving some hope to Mumbai Indians.

Nicholas Pooran, the danger man, was also sent back immediately after the powerplay, as Will Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav made another stunning catch on the long-on boundary to dismiss the explosive LSG batter. Pant was sent back for 4 runs just 2 balls after Pooran’s dismissal.

Ayush Badoni helped the flow of runs in the middle order, while Marsh was dismissed by Trent Boult on his comeback spell. David Miller then stepped in as the impact player, and this time he didn’t look out of touch.

Boult broke another partnership with the wicket of Ayush Badoni in his 3rd spell. Jasprit Bumrah finished the game for Mumbai in his second spell, with three wickets in an over that included the picks of David Miller, Abdul Samad and Avesh Khan.

Ravi Bishnoi enjoyed his time with a massive celebration after a six of Bumrah’s final ball of the match. MI eventually won the match by a huge margin of 54 runs.
