IPL 2024: Rajasthan Royals Traded Devdutt Padikkal

IPL 2024: Rajasthan Royals Traded Devdutt Padikkal For Avesh Khan to Lucknow Super Giants | Indian Premier League 2024 Auction: Some of the latest trades have been done for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Rajasthan Royals traded Pacer Avesh Khan from the Lucknow SuperGiants, whereas Devdutt Padikkal moved to the Lucknow SuperGiants from Rajasthan Royals.

Avesh Khan gave a decent performance in the IPL 2023 for Lucknow SuperGiants, whereas Rajasthan Royals struggled with the Indian Pacers, which might be the reason behind this Trade. This was the second player released by LSG in this trading window, as they had already traded Romario Shepherd to Mumbai Indians.

Devdutt Padikkal has played decent cricket, and IPL 2023 was probably his one of the bad seasons as he could contribute well to his team. Lucknow Super Giants needs one reliable Indian batter in the batting line-up who can play aggressive cricket and make partnerships as well.

Reason Behind This Trade From Lucknow SuperGiants and Rajasthan Royals:

This was an obvious move from Rajasthan Royals as Devdutt Padikkal didn’t perform well in the middle order, whereas Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal were opening for them, who were performing exceptionally for their team. Lucknow SuperGiants, too, have three openers (Quinton de Kock, Kyle Mayers, and KL Rahul), but they want an Indian opener to maintain an overseas slot in their team.

Avesh Khan is known for his expensive spells, but he is also known for getting some crucial wickets in the middle and death overs. Avesh’s economy rate is above 8.00, which might be the reason that LSG traded him with RR, who need some Pacers in their team despite having Sandeep Sharma, who is effective in powerplay only.

This might not be a good move from Rajasthan Royals as they already have good Pacers in their team, but in order to include someone better in the middle order, they have traded him with Avesh Khan, who will increase their bench strength.

Lucknow SuperGiants traded the perfect player in their team. If he can give the same performances as he did for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) from 2019 to 2021, then it will make them stronger than other teams as they already have a good bowling line-up, which is led by Mark Wood, who was the one of the leading wicket-taker in IPL 2023.
