India has strengthened their hold on the first position in the MRF Tires ICC Men’s ODI Rankings with their seven-wicket win over Pakistan in the World Cup 2023 tournament.

The much-awaited match in Ahmedabad could have seen Pakistan not only register its first ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup win over India but also overtake its neighbors in the ODI rankings.

But a comfortable seven-wicket win for India means the tournament hosts remain on top as they look for their first Men’s Cricket World Cup title since 2011.

Despite the defeat, Pakistan is in second place in the rankings, while in-form South Africa is in third place. Australia are fourth and will be desperate to show that quality at the World Cup after consecutive defeats at the start of their campaign.

New Zealand is in the world’s top five, with defending World Cup champions England in sixth place.

India will be looking to showcase their world No. 1 level when they take on Bangladesh in their next match on Thursday, while Pakistan will be looking to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat with hopes of progressing to another clash against their neighbors later in the competition.
