After losing two consecutive games in the TATA IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings played a dominating cricket against Kolkata Knight Riders in their home ground and broke the steak of losses. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad played an impressive inning of 67 runs whereas Ravindra Jadeja bowled fantastically and took three wickets in this match.

Kolkata Knight Riders, who was unbeaten in this tournament but now, they lost their first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Chennai Super Kings. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batted first in the match no.22 of TATA IPL 2024 but the openers failed to give the robust start to the team which they gave in the last two games. Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi made a decent partnership of 56 runs for the second wicket and led KKR to a decent start.

But, After the end of the first powerplay, KKR had three back-to-back wickets and then, Chennai Super Kings dominated the game. CSK bowlers especially Ravindra Jadeja kept their batters in silent mode in the middle overs which ultimately built pressure and therefore they lost their wickets while hitting boundaries.

KKR’s most lethal batters Andre Russell and Rinku Singh failed to play an impressive inning in this match which led KKR to have a low total of 137 runs with the loss of nine wickets.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer scored 34 runs whereas Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored 27 and 24 runs, respectively. From the Chennai Super Kings bowling unit, Ravindra Jadeja and Tushar Deshpande took three wickets whereas Mushtafizur Rahman took two wickets.

Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad gave a good start to Chennai Super Kings with Daryl Mitchell as they scored 52 runs in the batting powerplay with the loss of only one wicket. Gaikwad was leading the team from the front as he stood on the crease till CSK won. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 67 runs in 58 balls whereas Daryl Mitchell scored 25 runs in 19 balls.

It was an easy run chase for the defending champions Chennai Super Kings and now, they will be looking to replicate the same performance in the upcoming games of the tournament. From the KKR bowling unit, Vaibhav Arora took two wickets whereas Sunil Narine got one wicket only.

In the second inning, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) played exceptional cricket and easily chased the target in 17.4 overs by 7 wickets. This was CSK’s third victory of the tournament and with this, Chennai retained their 4th spot in the TATA IPL Points Table 2024 with six points and a decent net run rate of +0.666.
