The matches will be played at six different venues, with the first T20 being held in Mumbai.
The last time Sri Lanka toured India for T20Is was in February 2022, a series which India won comfortably 3–0. The visitors will play an ODI series in India for the first time since 2017, when the hosts won the competition 2-1.

Indian veteran captain Rohit Sharma has been named to make his comeback from a thumb injury sustained during the ODI series against Sri Lanka from 3 January 2023 to 7 January 2023 at three different venues in the next ODI cricket tournament.
Rohit Sharma has been battling a thumb injury and was recently ruled out of India’s two-match Test series in Bangladesh. India will next host Sri Lanka for six white-ball tournaments (three T20Is and three ODIs) in 2023.
For the ODI matches, captain Rohit Sharma was named to lead the team in the home matches. There is also news that captain Rohit has recovered from his injury and he will be seen captaining the field being fit and fine.
Rohit Sharma (the hit man) confirmed to be back from medical leave, veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan assumed the role of captain during the recent ODI series in Bangladesh but did not play the role of batsman and conceded three hits. Dropped from the team after scoring just 18 runs.

Experienced all-rounder Hardik Pandya will take over the captaincy in the upcoming three-match T20I between Sri Lanka and India, with star batsman Suryakumar Yadav promoted to the role of vice-captain.
