IPL 2023: The Indian Premier League has been the biggest platform for young Indian cricketers to showcase their talents for over 15 years now. The dynamism of IPL makes it one of the most suitable tournaments for youngsters to make a name for themselves. The stunning viewership, exciting format and financial upliftment that so many young players have gotten from IPL over the years is really amazing.
Every year, we see a couple of new names emerging in the Indian Premier League and surprise the fans with their stunning performance. IPL’s ‘Emerging Player’ award has been made especially for this category of players. It is not necessary that only an unknown name can win this award though. There are some young players who made their debuts in the previous seasons but they showed their mettle after one or two years. Umran Malik is a perfect example of this.
In this article, we are going to talk about 3 such young players who are expected to impress everyone with their performances in the 17th season of Indian Premier League, i.e, IPL 2023.
3. Arshdeep Singh
Although Arshdeep Singh is no longer eligible to win the emerging player award (having played more than 25 IPL matches), it does not change the fact that he is only 23 years old and has a lot of potential. The recent injury of Jasprit Bumrah has led to the rise of Arshdeep Singh into India’s main team and he has done a decent job so far.
Seeing his performances in Asia Cup 2022 and T20 World Cup 2022, it is only plausible to expect a brilliant IPL season from him in the upcoming year.
So far, Arshdeep Singh has played 37 IPL matches and picked up 40 wickets with an economy of 8.35.
2. Mohsin Khan
Uttar Pradesh’s Mohsin Khan impressed everyone with his performances for Lucknow Super Giants last season. He featured in 9 matches for them and picked up 14 wickets. He is still just 24 years old and plays List-A cricket for Uttar Pradesh.
He is very consistent in domestic cricket and seeing his performances last season it would be illogical not to expect that he will have a similarly great season in 2023 as well.
1. Tristan Stubbs
22-years old South African cricketer Tristan Stubbs is perhaps the most talked about young player in the world right now. He was signed by the Mumbai Indians mid-season last year as a replacement. Being associated with a team like MI gave him the much-needed clout and he was finally called up by the National Team. Ever since then, he has not looked back.
He has so far scored 173 runs in 9 innings in his T20I career and he is also performing decently in the T20 World Cup 2022. He will surely be a big asset for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023 if they decide to keep him in the squad. Otherwise, we can see him becoming one of the costliest players in IPL 2023 auction.
