The Mega IPL 2022 auction will probably be in the last week of December or the first week of January 2022. It may be recalled that the existing IPL franchises had already included the list of players they had kept in their squad.

It should be noted that two new teams – Lucknow and Ahmedabad – will participate in the IPL 2022 and under the final IPL Auction retention law, both teams are allowed to sign three players for the draft opened after the retention of IPL Retention.

But neither Lucknow nor Ahmedabad have signed any player and according to InsideSport, BCCI has asked Team Lucknow not to sign any player as Team Ahmedabad has come under scrutiny because its owner CVC has allegedly linked to betting companies.

The deadline set by the BCCI to select three players was December 25. Earlier it was reported that Lucknow had an interest in signing Indian defender KL Rahul and Afghan spinner Rashid Khan.

The RPSG team owns the Lucknow business after bidding for Rs 7,090, while CVC Capital successfully bids Ahmedabad for Rs 5,625 crore.
