IPL 2025 PBKS vs LSG Match Highlights: Punjab Kings take one step forward into the playoffs; Eye final four spot after almost a decade
PBKS vs LSG Match Highlights

PBKS vs LSG Match Highlights: The Punjab Kings and the Lucknow Super Giants both teams are both ideal opponents eyeing one of the final four spots in the playoffs of the IPL 2025. RCB, MI and GT look like the teams that have almost had one of foot in the final four, but the fourth team remains uncertain. With stunning performances from Punjab Kings, a dip in form for Delhi Capitals and LSG, and the recent bounce back of Kolkata Knight Riders, they all seem interested in their chances into the playoffs.

Punjab Kings head to their second alternate home ground, the Dharamshala Cricket Stadium. This ground is a batting paradise for the batters, and 3 of the last 4 games have been won by the team batting first. The Punjab Kings themselves have never won a match on this venue since 2023 and would look to bounce back as they overturn their fortunes this season. Lucknow would be looking for a comeback after the team had a waiting phase and would have hoped to fix their flaws.

Rishabh Pant, the LSG skipper, won the toss and, like the skippers on previous occasions, he also pushed the home side to bat first. Punjab Kings opening pair could not get going as the LSG new bowler with the new ball got the wicket of Priyansh Arya in the very first over.

But the game had just begun at Dharamshala, Josh Inglis sent up the order at no. 3, smashed a speeding 30 runs off just 14 balls, and gave some time to Prabhsimran Singh to settle down and set his eyes on the ball. Singh accelerated his innings alongside the skipper, Shreyas Iyer, after the wicket of Inglis.

Akash Singh was LSG’s best bowler with figures of 2/30, while Divesh Rathi also finished with 2 wickets, having picked the two biggest wickets of Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh. Iyer missed another fifty in back-to-back games, as he was dismissed for 45 off 25 balls, while Prabhsimran Singh went all attack for his 91 runs.

Shashank Singh and Nehal Wadhera, alongside the strong man from Australia, Marcus Stoinis, played some crucial cameos to give the perfect finish to the PBKS innings. The Punjab Kings, batting first, set a mammoth 237-run target for the Lucknow Super Giants to chase.

PBKS vs LSG Match Highlights: Arshdeep’s triple strike-rate in the powerplay hands PBKS a major leap closer to a playoff spot

The Punjab Kings bowlers seemed to be bowling on a completely different track as the pitch changed with the dew playing a role. Arshdeep Singh was given a huge responsibility in front of the LSG top order comprising Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, and Nicholas Pooran, the trio with the most top-order runs in IPL 2025.

The Indian T20 World Cup champion bowler bowled his best spell with the new ball at Dharamshala today. he dismissed Marsh and Markram in his second over and trapped Pooran right in front of the three stumps in his final over of the spell and the 5th over of the powerplay. Azmatullah Omarzai was the pick of the bowlers in the middle phase as the Afghan pacer responded with the big wickets of Rishabh Pant and David Miller in a very similar fashion.

Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad put on another 50-run partnership, another fine stand between two Indian uncapped players. This season, the uncapped Indians have been at their very best. While Nehal Wadhera, who took a stunning catch to dismiss Marsh earlier in the game, missed the catch of Abdul Samad off Marcus Stoinis. He went on to play a fine knock, adding runs to his team’s tally and also bringing on a quality knock for himself. PBKS finally wins by 37 runs.
