Asia Cup 2023: Team India announces 17-member Squad for Asia Cup 2023: KL Rahul, Iyer, Tilak Varma called for Asia Cup 2023: On 21 August 2023, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced the squad of Team India for the Asia Cup 2023. Rohit Sharma is going to lead India Team in Asia Cup.
India will play its first match of Asia Cup 2023 against Pakistan on 2 September 2023. Hardik Pandya is chosen as Vice-Captain of Team India for the Asia Cup. This 17-member squad is India’s Provisional Squad for the World Cup 2023.
Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul return to the India squad after recovering from Thigh and back injury, respectively. Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna performed outstandingly in the Ireland tour after returning to the India Squad from Injury.
Kuldeep Yadav was named as India’s main spinner for the Asia Cup. R Ashwin, Chahal, and Sundar were dropped from the squad. Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel will support Kuldeep Yadav in the Spin department.
Jasprit Bumrah will lead India’s Pace department with the support of Mohd. Shami, Mohd, Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna in Asia Cup. Tilak Varma has been selected for his first-ever ODI appearance.
Tilak Varma secured his position in India Team after playing outstandingly in the T20I series against the West Indies. KL Rahul will play as the main Wicketkeeper of the Indian Team. KL Rahul will play at 5th position, While Shreyas Iyer will play at 4th position. Ishan Kisna will play as the Third Opener of the Indian Team.
