Recently, during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the legendary bowler announced his retirement from international cricket, leaving behind a great legacy.

Ravi Ashwin has been an icon for the Indian cricket team. He has achieved numerous milestones in his career, as he has been commendable in earning the record of being th fastest 50-wicket to 500 test wickets for India and a key contributor to India’s success in both Test and limited-over formats. In a recent interview with Michael Atherton and Nasser Hussain, the Indian cricketer opened up on his retirement decision.

He stated, “I’ve never been a person who holds onto things, I’ve never felt insecure in life. I don’t believe what is mine today is going to be mine tomorrow. That has probably been one of my elevating factors all these years. I always wanted to leave things behind as nonchalantly as I could because I do not believe in people celebrating me, I don’t believe in the attention we get sometimes in India. It is the game that always stood ahead of me, all the time.”

“I don’t want people to celebrate me. I never believe in holding onto things. I have never been insecure in my life. I don’t believe what is on my mind today is going to stay with me tomorrow. I have no regrets, and I am glad that the game found me and it gave me meaning in life. I’ve played Test cricket for long and it taught me how to live my life. It is the most beautiful thing that has happened to me.” the off-spinner added.
