Ivory Coast, a small region on the African continent, has made history by achieving the lowest total in a men’s T20I game. The team lost to the Nigerian cricket team with a margin of 264 runs after getting all-out for 7 runs.
History has been scripted during an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier Group C game between Nigeria and Ivory Coast. The Nigerian side delivered an extraordinary performance, bowling out the Ivory Coast for a mere 7 runs in just 8 overs. This remarkable effort led to a commanding and record-breaking victory.
After the African side won the toss, Nigeria elected to bat, and batter Selim Salau went on to put forward an explosive 112 runs scored, while the other two batters, Sulaimon Runsewe and Isaac Okpe, went on to take the team score forward with the half-centuries, as they posted a huge 271.
Left-arm spinner Isaac Danladi and left-arm fast bowler Prosper Useni each took three wickets, while right-arm quick Peter Aho claimed two and Sylvester Okpe took one. Additionally, one batter was run out as the Ivory Coast were bowled out for just 7 runs in 7.3 overs. Opener Ouattara Mohamed was the top scorer with 4 runs off 6 balls.
