The reports from ESPNcricinfo have given a clear prospect of the probable retentions for LSG ahead of the mega-auction, as the revelations have led to a big update on KL Rahul’s probable exit from the franchise.

The Lucknow Super Giants have confirmed five of their retention options, as they look forward to retaining only the likes of Nicholas Pooran as their only probable overseas player retention.

Pooran, who was their best batter in the IPL 2024, went on to score a terrific 500 runs in the previous edition, as he played some fearless innings towards the back end, the finishing role Pooran is often known for. Pooran might be their first priority retention option and hence retained for a whopping supposed INR 18 crores.

For an INR 16 crore bid from Pooran, a price slab of 18 crore doesn’t seem very hefty for the franchise. The likes of the next capped players would include Indian T20 player Ravi Bishnoi, who recently completed 50 international T20I wickets for the national side, and speedster Mayank Yadav, who made his debut for the side.

With the likes of the IPL retention slabs as placed by the IPL committee of the BCCI, a huge sum of INR 51 crores will be reduced from the purse. However, if the retention amount exceeds the amount, then a higher purse amount will be reduced from their purse.

While the likes of the uncapped players in Ayush Badoni, the star from the Delhi Premier League, and Mohsin Khan are also the likely players to be retained for a decent sum of money, LSG looks very promising prior to the mega-auction.

While Zaheer Khan, the veteran Indian campaigner, now takes over the LSG franchise as their mentor, Justin Langer, Adam Voges, and Jonty Rhodes will reprise their roles, though LSG decided to opt out the players in KL Rahul, the previous skipper, Quinton De Kock, and all-rounder Marcus Stoinis.
