PAK vs BAN: Saud Shakeel scored a seventh half-century in the 20th Test inning. The first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh is underway at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The toss couldn’t happen on time, and it took the ground staff four hours as the pitch was wet.

It was a delayed start four hours from the scheduled start at 10:30 AM. The pitch was wet, which caused the delayed start. Bangladesh won and decided to bowl first. The first PAK vs BAN game started, and Pakistan went through a horrible time.

The visitors took three early wickets. It included the big wicket of Babar Azam for a two-ball duck. Pakistan lost the first three wickets for just 16 runs on the board.

Shoriful Islam gave Bangladesh a good start in the first PAK vs BAN game as he dismissed Shan Masood and Babar Azam in a span of four deliveries. Abdullah Shafique was the first wicket to fall. At one point, the hosts were 16/3 in 8.2 overs. But after that, Saim Ayub and Saud Shakeel added a 98-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Both left-handers played some good shots and took the attack to opposition. Ayub went on to score his maiden international fifty and got out after scoring 56 off 98. Meanwhile Shakeel went on to register a massive record to his name. Notably, it was the 20th Test inning for the vice-captain and he has now completed 1000 Test runs in his career.

The 28-year-old has gotten off to a great start to his career. He has already scored two centuries and seven half-centuries in 20 innings with a best of 208. Shakeel took 20 innings to complete 1000 runs and equaled the record of former all-rounder Saeed Ahmed, who also took 20 innings to complete 1000 runs. He became the joint-fastest batter from Pakistan to complete 1000 Test runs.

Overall, he is the 8th fastest batter to reach 1000 Test runs. England’s Herbert Sutcliffe and West Indies’ Everton Weekes are the joint-fastest, taking just 12 innings each to reach the landmark, while Don Bradman is the second-fastest with 13 innings.
