ICC Cricket Awards 2023: The International Cricket Council (ICC)) every year recognises 11 players who have outfoxed all others with their achievements, have insinuated all, be it with the willow or with the ball, or have shown their remarkable frolics with their all-round excellence.
Let’s see the ICC recommended 11 players for ODI in 2022

1. Babar Azam ( Pakistan)
The Pakistan skipper has had a dream run in the Oval once again and has shown how exceptional a batter can be in the longer limited-overs format. The Pakistani captain played nine ODI matches in three series, which he won with just a single loss against Australia, having scored five 50+ scores and three hundreds, for a total of 679 runs at an average of 84.87.
Still ranked as the no. 1 ODI-ranked batter, since 2021, Babar has shown how promising a player can be. With an 88.88% win percentage, Babar is the obvious captain in the ICC recommended side.
2. Travis Head ( Australia )
Though this young batter is mostly seen representing Australia in Test cricket, Australia has found their long-term replacement for limited-overs cricket in him, with former skipper Finch retiring from the 50-over format.
The Australian batter featured in nine games for Australia and evolved into a top-notch opener, scoring 550 runs and averaging almost 70. Head takes over opposite Babar in the ICC squad.
3. Shai Hope ( West Indies )
West Indies cricket once had the most fierce batsmen in world cricket, but since the mid-2000s, the Windies batting has failed continuously. However, Hope has been a stunning performer for the West Indies, especially in the 50-over format.
Despite a grumpy start to the year, he later found form and finished the year with 709 runs in 20 appearances. Hope is the No. 3 pick for the ICC, leaving behind greats like Kohli, Williamson, and Smith.
4. Shreyas Iyer (India)
Shreyas Iyer originated as one of India’s most consistent batters in the 50-over format while also becoming the star of their middle order. Mostly slotting in the middle order, Iyer played 17 games during the calendar year 2022 and scored 724 runs at an average of 55.69.
He scored his runs at an impressive strike rate of 91.52, which included one century and six fifties, thus making him the perfect No. 4 for 2022.
5. Tom Latham ( New Zealand )
Latham was New Zealand’s unsung hero in 50-over cricket in 2022, as he stepped up for the team in the middle order, often playing pivotal roles as a finisher, and sizzled to score 558 runs in 15 appearances, averaging 55.80, and finishing the year with two fifties and two centuries.
Latham’s outstanding grabs and lightning speed behind the stumps in 2022 led to 16 dismissals, hence making him the wicketkeeper for our team.
6. Sikandar Raza – Zimbabwe
Raza is the only player from the T20i team to make our list yet again. Raza has taken Zimbabwe’s international cricket to the next level, scoring 645 runs at an average of 49.61 and scoring two fifties to go along with three formats developed largely in 2022. In Bumrah’s absence due to injury, Siraj emerged as the most potent weapon of the Indian pace unit.
Siraj played 15 matches and picked up 24 wickets. His wickets came at an economy of 4.62 and an average of 23.50, with the best figures of 3/29. Siraj has a good chance of playing for India in the Cricket World Cup in 2023.
7. Mehidy Hasan Miraz – Bangladesh
Probably the second player after the veteran of his nation Shakib Al Hasan. He scored 330 runs at a stunning average of 66, with one century and one fifty. He also picked up 24 wickets in 15 games at an average of 28.20 with a best performance of 4/29. Mehidy proved to be the most stunning allrounder in the 50-over format as he developed his batting skills to add to his efficient bowling skills.
8. Alzarri Joseph – West Indies
Joseph developed from being a young prospect to being the most credible bowler for West Indies in 2022. Joseph played 17 matches and scalped 27 wickets at an average of 25.70 and a strike rate of 33.4. He was also despicable with an economy rate of just above 4.
9. Mohammed Siraj – India
Mohammed Siraj’s skills in white-ball cricket, especially the 50-over format, developed largely in 2022. In Bumrah’s absence due to injury, Siraj emerged as the most potent weapon of the Indian pace unit.
Siraj played 15 matches and picked up 24 wickets. His wickets came at an economy of 4.62 and an average of 23.50, with the best figures of 3/29. Siraj has a good chance of being a part of the India pace ordnance in the Cricket World Cup 2023.
10. Trent Boult – New Zealand
Another year, and here comes another sensational set of spectacles from the compatible New Zealand pacer. The left-arm pacer has been a specimen of consistency for almost a decade, and the year 2022 was no different. Batters again strived to counter his swing with the new ball and his variations in the death overs.
Boult played only six games in 2022 but made a massive impact in them. He scalped 18 wickets at a stunning average of 12.38 and a miserly economy of 3.98.
11. Adam Zampa – Australia
The Aussie spinner staggered all his opponents with his leg spin as he enjoyed his most prolific year after 2016, picking up 30 wickets out of 12 matches, of which 9 he played in Australian conditions where there is no help for spinners at all.
