World Cup 2023: Young rising star Shubman Gill fell ill with dengue in his first match due to which he had to be ruled out of the playing 11.

During an interview today, Indian captain Rohit Sharma revealed before the match against Pakistan that fellow opening batsman Shubman Gill has recovered from dengue disease.

He is likely to be available to return to the squad for Saturday’s blockbuster clash against Pakistan in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. On the other hand, Jitodh is doing net practice so that he can cement his place in the playing eleven.

Gill missed the first two matches of the tournament due to illness and was admitted to a hospital in Chennai earlier this week to help his recovery.

But the right-hander has made a lot of progress in the last few days to face Pakistan and it looks like he will be available for selection for the big clash in Ahmedabad.

Rohit led the pre-match press conference ahead of the match against Pakistan on Friday and was optimistic about the fitness of India captain Gill.
