West Indies Legend Brian Lara Picks his 4 Semifinalists for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024: The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is set to start in just a few days and all the teams are preparing effortlessly for the tournament, which is scheduled to be played from June 02 2024. The Two-Times champions West Indies and USA will be hosting the whole tournament however West Indies legendary Player Brian Lara reveals his top four semifinalists for the T20 World Cup 2024.
A total of 20 teams are participating in the upcoming ICC Tournament and there are also four groups (A, B, C & D). However, Each group has five teams but the top 2 teams from each group will move to the Super 8 round in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. India and Pakistan are present in the same group (Group A) in the T20 World Cup 2024 therefore it is expected that fans can witness at least two matches between both the teams in the tournament.
England is the defending champions as they won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 Final match against Pakistan by 5 wickets at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Australia. The player of the tournament was English All-rounder Sam Curran as he performed fantastically for his team with both bat and ball.
Brian Lara’s Top 4 Semifinalists for the T20 World Cup 2024:
Brian Lara named their four semifinalists for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 which includes India, Australia, West Indies and Afghanistan. Cricket icon Brian Lara hasn’t picked defending champions England and runner-up Pakistan in his top 4 semi-finalist teams. Both England and Pakistan haven’t performed well in recent times in the bilateral series especially Pakistan who were able to win only the three-match T20I series against Ireland by 2-1.
After performing poorly in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, the England Men’s Cricket Team has lost their form and winning momentum in the International T20I & ODI cricket. However, Most of the English Players were part of IPL 2024 and they have played good cricket which is a good sign for England ahead of the ICC Major Tournament.
In recent times, Pakistan has played a bilateral series against New Zealand and Ireland. In the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, The Core Team of Pakistan were able to draw the series by 2-2 against the New Zealand A Team. But, They played quite well against Ireland and won the series by 2-1 but Ireland has a comparatively very low ranking than Pakistan in the ICC T20I Team Rankings.
- India: The Indian Team has played a dominating cricket in the bilateral series before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 therefore they are the one key contender to win the T20 World Cup.
- Australia: The Australian Team is known for their excellent performances in the big tournaments, their players were also in good form as they performed superbly in the IPL 2024. However, Mitchell Marsh will be leading the team instead of Pat Cummins in the upcoming tournament.
- West Indies: West Indies have always been the top T20I side in recent years and they are the main promoters of T20I cricket as their players preferred playing aggressive and stormy cricket. West Indies looks very much sorted for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 therefore they can give good competition to others.
- Afghanistan: It was a surprise pick by Brian Lara as Afghanistan is present at 10th position in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings. However, they have played good cricket in the past few months and it is expected that Afghanistan might emerge as the dark horse in the T20 World Cup 2024.
