T20I World Cup: Before to the T20 World Cup Canada and Bangladesh will be hosted by the USA: The United States will host Canada for a five-match T20I series in April, followed by a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in the lead-up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
The USA, co-hosts of the T20 World Cup 2024, will prepare itself for the global megaevent with eight high-risk T20Is in April and May.
In a five-match T20I series that begins in Houston, Texas on April 7, Canada will go on the tour first. Bangladesh’s three-match T20I series against India begins next month in May. Houston, Texas, will host these matches as well.
Following negotiations between the host board and Cricket Canada, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), and the ICC, the match list was finalised.
The purpose of these tours is to strengthen USA Cricket’s bilateral relationships with the respective boards and provide more playing opportunities for their teams in the future.
The chairman of USA Cricket, Venu Pisike, stated that these matches are essential for strengthening team dynamics and honing tactics.
“Ahead of the important Men’s T20 World Cup, these games will be vital for our team to get their working combinations, build team cohesion, and fine-tune strategies. I’d also like to thank ICC, Cricket Canada and the Bangladesh Cricket Board who offered their full support in scheduling of the matches.”
The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s chief executive, Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, on the other hand, referred to this tour as a historic moment for cricket.
“The Bangladesh Team’s upcoming tour of the USA marks a historic occasion in the realm of cricket. This T20I series signifies a momentous opportunity for the cricketers of both nations to showcase their talent and passion for the sport.
“For the Bangladesh Team, this tour serves as an ideal platform to acclimatize to the conditions ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. We recognize the significance of this preparatory phase and are committed to making the most of this invaluable experience. Moreover, we extend our wholehearted support to USA Cricket in its endeavors to promote and develop cricket within its burgeoning market.”
With 20 teams and 55 games, the T20 World Cup 2024 will be the biggest T20 World Cup ever. 16 of the matches will be played at three different locations in the USA.
