ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024: Super Eight Match 1 USA vs South Africa Match Highlights & Points Table: After batting first in the Super Eights, Quinton de Kock guided South Africa to a commanding 18-run victory over the USA, enabling his team to register a solid 194/4 total. In response, Andries Gaus scored an incredible 80 runs off of 47 balls to help the USA score 176/6.
The USA had a stellar first round, surprising the cricketing world to advance from Group A along with India by beating Pakistan, Canada and Ireland.
The co-hosts surprised everyone in the tournament by beating Pakistan in New York, and now they will be looking for another big win at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
South Africa entered the Super Eights stage having won all four of their matches in Group D, but were hit hard in several of those matches and will be looking for a confidence-boosting statement against the lowest-ranked team at this stage of the tournament.

The ball didn’t bounce straight up into the air off Saurabh Netravalkar’s bat and into Corey Anderson’s clutches at mid-off until the third over was almost completed.
De Kock was forced to continue with Aiden Markram’s assistance, and with his help, he managed to score an incredible 74 off 40 balls with seven fours and five sixes.
He was eventually caught by Shayan Jahangir off a brilliant full toss from Harmeet Singh. And Harmeet struck again off the next ball, catching new batsman David Miller off his own bowling to take the score to 126/3 with a little over seven overs remaining.
Markram was dismissed for 46 off 32 balls, caught by Ali Khan off Netravalkar. Tristan Stubbs and Heinrich Klaasen then put on an impressive partnership in the final five overs as the duo put together a crucial 53-run partnership.
Gaus and Harmeet played a key role in USA’s run chase
Gaus performed brilliantly for USA in achieving the target of 195 runs. In the fourth over of the innings, he lost fellow opener Steven Taylor, who was caught by Klaasen off Kagiso Rabada for 24.
And Aaron Jones departed for a disappointing zero off five balls, caught by de Kock off Keshav Maharaj, leaving USA at 56/3 after seven overs.
Corey Anderson departed for one off 12 balls, bowled by Anrich Nortje off a superb full delivery, and Shayan Jahangir departed for 3 off the first ball of Tabraiz Shamsi’s spell.
Harmeet Singh joined Gaus at the crease in the 12th over, when USA were at 76/5. The duo gave the North Sound crowd something to cheer about – and after Shamsi’s final over conceded 22 runs, including three sixes, they were hopeful of a sensational win.
However, Harmeet was caught by Stubbs off the first ball of Rabada’s final over, ending his innings of 38 off 22 balls, shattering his dreams.
