The T20 World Cup 2022 is nearing by the day. All teams are trying all possible combinations to figure out the best for them. Spinners are an integral part of today’s game. In the shorter format earlier, finger spinners were dominating. But since the emergence of leg spinners like Yuzi, Rashid, Zampa, and Shamsi, the stocks of finger spinners have dropped. India too relies significantly upon the leg as well as finger spinners. So, here is a look at the top 5 spinners in contention to be chosen for the team:

1) Ravindra Jadeja is going to be picked for T20 World Cup 2022:

The top left-arm spinner in the country with amazing batting abilities and a gun fielder is the first name you write down on the team sheet. Jaddu has improved his batting significantly. The team relies on him to clean up the games in the end. On his day with the ball, Jadeja has two things to offer. He can bowl economic overs and he can help control the over-rate. On a big ground like MCG, Jadeja is bound to be picked in the 11.

2) Yuzvendra Chahal:

Yuzi Chahal would have been disappointed by the BCCI when he was not picked last season. IMG SRC: TOI.

Yuzi is the most successful Indian T20I bowler. He has picked the most wickets in T20Is for India. He is a very attacking option. Chahal in an interview said, “I feel even if the batsman hits me, he will hit me for 6 sixes but if I don’t attack him if I don’t fight, I miss my chance of picking his wicket.” With this mentality, he is bound to excel. Yuzi has a knack for taking wickets. It was very unfortunate that he wasn’t picked in the 2021 T20 World Cup.

3) Ravi Bishnoi is likely to be picked for T20 World Cup 2022:

Ravi Bishnoi has made a strong case for himself after excelling in the recently concluded West Indies series. Bishnoi has set his sight on the flight to Australia. He is a similar bowler to Yuzi Chahal but his round-arm action is faster. The batters find it difficult to pick the wrong-un bowled by him. His performance in his debut game speaks volumes of his potential. He is the only Indian to get capped without playing a List A Game.

4) Washington Sundar:

Bowling with an economy of 7 in the powerplay overs is not every person’s piece of cake. Washington Sundar does this and does this with absolute brilliance. Washington Sundar can be an exceptional batter at number 7. If India wants to make effective use of him, he can be made to bat number 6 as well. But due to the T20 World Cup, 2022 being in Australia, his case becomes weak as the fast-bowling all-rounder will be preferred.

Honorable Mentions:

5) Rahul Chahar is likely to be picked for T20 World Cup 2022:

Rahul Chahar, the tall leg-spinner has to make a comeback to the international circuit. On the Australian pitches that give bounce, a tall leg-spinner can make a difference. He also bowls a bit quicker. Chahar has to perform well in Tata IPL 2022 to make a comeback. He was an integral part of the T20 World Cup 2021 campaign but ever since has been sidelined.
