The TATA IPL is generally known for tough contests. But the RCB VS MI Game turned into a one-sided affair. The Mumbai Indians continued their tradition of losing the first match of every IPL season as RCB beat them by 8 wickets and with more than 3 overs to spare. Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis were the stars with the bat for RCB.

While it was a cumulative bowling effort by them. The MI batters were playing in the 1st innings and they lost composure. Most of them were unlucky and were out due to poor shot selection. Of the batters, it was Tilak Varma who played an inning of his lifetime. Here is an in-depth look at the same:

RCB VS MI, 1st Innings:

The first innings first half was completely in the favor of RCB. Mumbai Indians have never struggled so much in any of the RCV VS MI matches. There were instances where the Mumbai batters were unlucky but at times it was a poor shot selection that cost them. Ishan Kishan was sent back to the pavilion when he tried to clear the fence and got a leading edge. Rohit Sharma was caught behind on the bowling of Harshal Patel. The MI team was stranded on 20-3 when Sharma went back.

Tilak Varma handled the last 10 overs. He was the star of the night. He justified the hype around his name by sheer performance. Tilak held one end tight while wickets kept tumbling at the other end. Another impressive performer was Nehal Wadhera. The “six-machine” from Punjab, was playing his first-ever IPL game. He got 21 of 13 balls but his innings were impactful. He left an impression in the RCB VS MI Match.

Tilak on the other hand played great shots. He was timing the ball to perfection. He ended the inning with a last-ball six and his score was 84 runs from 46 balls. MI ended with 171 of their 20 overs. The RCB bowling was a team effort. All the bowlers chipped in with wickets. But Karn Sharma was the stand-out. He took the big wicket of Nehal Wadhera who looked dangerous and of Tim David too in the RCB VS MI first inning.

RCB VS MI, 2nd Innings:

The second inning of the RCB VS MI game saw complete domination by the RCB batters. The RCB batters ruined the party of the MI bowlers. Even the “Kohli VS Archer” contest looked like a one-sided affair. Kohli dominated Archer. He took him for runs. Faf and Virat opened the innings. Jason Behrendorff was bought on the field as the impact player in place of Surya. Faf started from the first over itself. His timing was elite and so was his footwork in the RCB VS MI match.

Virat Kohli RCB VS MI

Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis played well and showed exactly why RCB batting is dangerous. They looked unstoppable. There was just one chance that was produced by Archer but dropped by him while bowling against Kohli. They scored 53 runs in the first 6 overs. The first wicket fell with RCB on 148. But it was too late by then. DK walked in at number 3. He was dismissed too. But Virat took RCB home safely with 3 overs to spare. Mohammed Arshad Khan took his first-ever IPL wicket in the RCB VS MI match.
