SRH vs RR: The playoff games will now shift to Chennai, as the last two matches will be played at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. The first match will be played on Friday when Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2. This match is very important because the winner will face Kolkata Knight Riders in the final on May 26, which will be played at the same venue. After two games, the IPL will have a new champion.
Well, the stage is set for two blockbuster matches in Chennai, and fans are excited for these matches. The big question will be who will join KKR in the final among SRH and RR. Will it be Sunrisers Hyderabad who have been phenomenal in the way they have played, or will it be Rajasthan Royals, who are coming off a brilliant win over RCB?
IPL 2024: What will happen if SRH vs RR Qualifier 2 gets washed out?
We are in for a great game this Friday in Chennai, but there is a sign of worry for the SRH vs RR clash, which is the rain. Notably, there is a prediction of heavy rain in the coming days in the southern part of India, including Tamil Nadu. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in South India, including Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Though Chennai will see light rain but nothing can be said accurately.
So what will happen if it rains on Friday? Well, there is a reserve day for Qualifier 2. That means if we might see no game on Friday, the reserve day, which is Saturday, will come into play. Let’s suppose that on Friday only ten overs get done, then the remaining games will take place on Saturday. That is when this reserve day rule will apply.
IPL 2024: Who will qualify if the SRH vs RR game gets called off?
This is interesting. Notably, there are 20 to 30 percent chances of rain on Saturday in the evening. That means we might see rain spoil the SRH vs RR game if the match gets into reserve day. But what happens if both days get washed out? However, in that case, it will be Sunrisers Hyderabad who will qualify for the final by default on the basis of their ranking in the group stage. SRH finished the group in second place, while RR were third on the table. That is similar for the finals as well. If the final game gets completely washed out, then Kolkata Knight Riders will be crowned the new champion.
