As per the latest updates, Pant has been actively involved in a warm-up game in Alur near Bengaluru, showing positive signs of recovery. This is the first match that he is playing after Rishabh Pant got injured.

Sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and their IPL franchise have indicated that the 26-year-old cricketer is set to lead the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024. However, it is notable that he will participate fully. One batsman, another player were named as the wicketkeeper for the team.

Pant’s mobility appears to have been unaffected, as sources attest to his capacity to run and bat with the same freedom and agility before the injury in December 2022, which kept him out of the game for almost 15 months.

Pant received treatment in London last month, organized by the BCCI, and is currently receiving rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Regarding Pant’s potential IPL participation, there is a lot of confidence based on the approval he received from NCA officials. The Delhi Capitals team has chosen to assign another player to take up wicketkeeping duties, despite expressing faith in Pant’s ability to lead.

In Pant’s absence during the previous IPL season, David Warner captained the squad. The IPL schedule is still pending, the dates are expected to be finalized after the Election Commission of India announces the general election dates.

The IPL schedule will be adjusted accordingly depending on the election schedule in different states. Tentatively, the BCCI is considering starting the IPL on March 22 or 23, with the tournament concluding on Sunday, May 26.

Rishabh Pant’s recovery progress and his possible return to competitive cricket are significant milestones, increasing the anticipation for IPL 2024 among fans and stakeholders.
