IPL 2023: The T20 World Cup 2022 is already undergoing and as we know, that will be the last major International tournament for quite some time now. It is now time that we move our focus to the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League, i.e, IPL 2023 which will kick off around the month of March.

Gujarat Titans won the trophy last season in their very first year in the tournament and shocked everyone. It is now time to see whether we could see more unexpected turn of events in the upcoming year. But then again, that is why we enjoy watching the Indian Premier League, don’t we?

As we know, scoring runs is a highly crucial part of T20Is, especially in a tournament as dynamic as the Indian Premier League. Thus every year, the highest overall runscorer in the tournament is awarded the Orange Cap award trophy. Last year, it was won by Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler.

In this article, we shall talk about three major candidates who might win the prestigious (IPL 2023) trophy this year around.

3. Sanju Samson

Now this might be a totally unexpected pick as Sanju Samson has never even come close to winning the Orange cap award in Indian Premier League history but just hear me out.

Sanju Samson is undoubtedly one of the topmost T20I talents in India right now. He has given consistent performances in every chance that he has been provided so far and he seems to be in no mood to stop. Despite that, he has been constantly kept out of the Indian Team, especially in major tournaments like the World Cup.

The hunger to prove himself might just be a big factor that leads him to break all odds and win the Orange Cap award this season.

2. KL Rahul

KL Rahul might not be in great form allover but we have to admit that he rarely has rough patches in the Indian Premier League. Whenever it comes to IPL, KL Rahul always steps up for his team. Even last year, he was the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament (616 runs in 15 matches) after Jos Buttler.

Given the fact that Lucknow Super Giants are one of the better teams in the league right now and KL Rahul has all the necessary elements needed to succeed in IPL 2023, there is no reason not to believe that he will keep up his usual performances this year as well.

1. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has made a sensational comeback in his form lately. The former Indian captain has finally found his long-lost form back and is currently one of the most in-form batters in the team. He registered a sensational century against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup and has not looked back since then.

His phenomenal chase against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup proves that Kohli is ready to reclaim his throne as the best batsman in the World and what better way to do that than in the Indian Premier League? Kohli is one of the top contenders to win the Orange cap in IPL 2023 and RCB fans finally have a good reason to rejoice ahead of the upcoming season.
