RR vs CSK: Top 3 memorable matches

1. The Royals encountered the defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the finals of IPL 2008 on the 1st of June 2008. Batting first, the Super Kings managed to put on a decent total of 163 in their 20 overs as Raina batted his part of 43 and Dhoni finished it off with a stylish 29 off 17 balls, with a not-so-convincing effort from the other batters in the lineup.

Rajasthan Royals, however, didn’t have a decent initiation to the chase, but they consolidated further in the innings with a great knock from Yusuf Pathan of 56 from 39 balls, after his 3 wickets with the ball. Despite having an attack comprising Ntini, Muralitharan, and Albie Morkel, CSK could not resist the Royals as they won their debut title in the Indian Premier League

2. The second-most memorable clash between the two teams took place on April 23, 2014. Despite having a star-studded batting lineup comprising DR Smith, McCullum, Raina, Dhoni, du Plessis, and Jadeja, CSK could only manage a total of 140, with a top-notch 50 from Smith up the order and then Jadeja’s subtle 36 towards the end.

They took full advantage of the pitch while bowling, as the Royals got all-out for 133. Jadeja took 4 wickets and was declared the Man of the Match.

3. The Chennai Super Kings faced RR on the 31st of March 2019, while CSK put on a score of 175 with a valiant innings of 75 off 46 balls from the legendary MS Dhoni, supported by a cameo from Bravo as he picked 27 quick runs off 16 balls.

On the batting front, Rajasthan Royals batters Rahul Tripathi, Ben Stokes, and Archer put on some stellar performances but could not survive the antics of Imran Tahir and Dwayne Bravo, as they picked up 2 wickets each.
