IPL 2023: Both the Super Giants and the Punjab Kings started their campaigns on a commanding note and are giving tough competition to all their opponents with four commendable wins from their seven matches.
Though both teams have scored the same number of points in the same number of matches, LSG, due to a higher run rate, is placed higher than PBKS and will look to win this game to take their lead over them.
Let’s take a look at the three most highly scorching battles between the players from both sides:
1. KL Rahul vs Arshdeep Singh
PBKS after their last win would be high in confidence, and to maintain it in the tournament, they need to get this man out, and PBKS would hand this responsibility to their ace Indian pacer Arshdeep as he often produces wickets with the new ball for the Kings.
Arshdeep Singh is hands down one of India’s best pacers as of now. He has proved himself time and again in the Indian Premier League and he has the experience of bowling against the best batters in the world. Thus, he will be PBKS’ best man to take on KL Rahul.
2. Sam Curran vs Krunal Pandya
The English lower-order all-rounder has been a veteran of the T20 format with the ball, but we have witnessed his genius with the bat as well. He has marked his return to form with the bat after he posted a startling 50 and displayed his caliber as a power hitter.
His form can heal PBKS’s middle-over panics, and to reduce his presence on the field, the experienced all-rounder from LSG can be the best possible player, as Curran is too good at handling pace but often struggles against slow spin.
3. Jitesh Sharma vs Naveen Ul-Haq
He has shown his caliber many times, as he knocks sixes with ease. This batter is probably the biggest threat in the death overs, as he has blistering striking power from the first ball he faces, in whichever phase of the game he comes in to bat.
Naveen Ul-Haq is a perfect bowler against this batter, as this newly termed ‘running off-spinner’ type seam bowler, like Naveen, who produces slower balls with so much accuracy of line and length, and a very unconventional slower yorker, is the best opponent for a batter who loves pace on the ball.
