IPL 2023: IPL or Indian Premier League has been a tournament of extreme thrill and contrasting emotions. The tournament was introduced with the idea of setting high standards for domestic Indian players by sharing a platform with players of international merit.
The 20-20 over format has always been a batsman’s game. Though most of the greats of the game come with a willow in their hand, IPL has brought a revolution to the game. From the very first edition, the bowlers have left their mark on this format of the game and have proved their worth as match winners too.
We will see such sides comprising fearsome Quicks & Tricky Turners who can flip the game with the cork in their hand.
3. Rajasthan Royals
RR, the champions of the very first edition of the IPL under the leadership of the spinning wizard Shane Warne, with Warnie, Tanvir, Faulkner and Archer being a part of this franchise over the years they have proved their worth as a tough bowling opponent.
The duo of the versatile kiwi Trent Boult and Indian seamer Prasidh Krishna struck 35 times in total matches played to give important breakthroughs to the Royals, along with firm support from windies paceman Obed McCoy ( 11 wickets 7 matches ) and Indian rising speed gun Kuldeep Sen ( 8 wickets 7 matches).
What say about the spinners, both Yuzi Chahal & Ravi Ashwin have proved to be real tricksters for RR. A masterclass by Chahal had the purple crown on his head, the duo managed 39 wickets with a blistering economy of 7.5 from the 2 spinners.
Keeping an account of recent performances by Boult & Ashwin in this year’s World cup and Krishna & Sen in the domestic tournaments, the Royals bowling lineup is the most promising in IPL 2023.
2. Gujarat Titans
The Titans had a remarkable beginning to their IPL journey. The newcomers started their season with a bang, defeating the most formidable teams in the history of the tournament.
Headed by experienced pacer Shami & T20 global spinning giant Rashid Khan. The team also featured the Blackcaps speed gun Lockie Ferguson and the West Indian paceman Alzari Joseph.Comprising 4 pacers and a lone spinner Rashid they seemed too hostile for their opponents. They picked up a total of 90 wickets with a remarkable strike rate of just above 20.
The speed-studded lineup with slow balls of equal precision makes them the most unpredictable attack along with pressure-building middle overs by Rashid. An equally formidable backup with Yash Dayal and Sai Kishore shows that even unfortunate injuries can’t evade titans from showing a bowling masterclass in IPL 2023.
1. Sunrisers Hyderabad
SRH is the most competitive team in the last few editions of IPL. The last edition didn’t prove to be promising after bidding farewell to David Warner. Under the bowling instructors, Dale Steyn alongside the Wizard of the Emerald Isle Muttiah Muralitharan the bowling is expected to do good.
With not much pace in their bowling deck led by Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and T. Natrajan, their control and accuracy turn out to be unplayable to the opponents. Under the guidance of the Proteas legend Dale Steyn, the fearsome pace of Umran and Tyagi can be said to be in good hands.
Spin might not be as promising but Sundar, Markram, Phillips & Abhishek Sharma can roll their fingers over the twine and prove to be of great help at the slow and gripping pitches in IPL 2023.
