CSK All-rounders: Last year, the men in yellow from Chennai ended their IPL journey with great disappointment, finishing second last in the points table. Though the team management was disheartened by the results, they were also pleased by some players’ performances in the edition. Thus, they were looking forward to readjusting their squad in this year’s mini-auction of 2022, which they did with a few vital additions, Ben Stokes being the peak of them.
CSK has solidarity in its opening pair with the likes of Gaikwad and Conway but seems to struggle in their middle order; only Shivam Dubey contributed to most of the middle-order runs last year, but this year, with the hopes of ending their struggle, they bought Stokes at a whopping price of 16.5 crores. With skipper Dhoni and opener Jadeja, CSK seems to have a power-packed finishing line.
Deepak Chahar is the only international capped pace bowler, so the pace bowling deck appears immature and inexperienced. On the other hand, the spin department also seems to be loose, with only Theekshana being the peak of the bowlers. But despite being young and inexperienced, others in the bowling deck are quality players and can prove to be real gems with the brightest of cricketing brains standing behind the wickets.
Chennai has always given chances to quality all-rounders, who have the advantage of extra bowling options, which is effective in a T20 game. With a strong hope of coming back, CSK would make sure to have three permanent and irreplaceable all-rounders in their squad.
Three allrounders who are irreplaceable in the CSK squad are:
Table of Contents
1. Ben Stokes
The 16.5 crore bid by CSK is made with high regard and prospects for the Englishman. Stokes is brought into the lineup probably to fill in multiple voids left by a pressure-absorbing and responsible middle-order batter who can shift gears with ease.
He also serves as an extra bowling option for the captain, with 50% of Bravo’s bowling role in the team. In all aspects and senses, Stokes is irreplaceable on the Super Kings’ side.
2. Ravindra Jadeja
Last year’s appointed skipper, though he could not deliver much, is still one of the most highly regarded all-rounders in the game and a well-known face in the IPL, known for doing wonders on the field either with bat or bowl or even barehanded in the field by making spectacular grabs or breathtaking runouts.
Considered one of the most complete all-rounders of modern cricket, CSK would never look to replace Jadeja, and even if they did, it would be very difficult to find one who could match his caliber.
3. Moeen Ali
Another highly regarded cricketer, particularly in the shorter format. Ali was recalled to the national side for limited-overs cricket even after he announced his retirement. Part of the CSK side for quite a few seasons now, he has turned out to be an eminent player for the men in yellow.
Known for his carefree batting style, Ali suits all batting positions in the middle order, therefore his flexibility proves his worth as a batsman. His off-spin can prove to be handy on slow, gripping pitches where quick bowling options fail to perform. also being a constant performer for CSK Moeen turns out to be an irreplaceable member of the CSK hut.
