IPL Points Table After GT vs CSK: The Defending Champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost the crucial match against Gujarat Titans by 35 runs in match no. 59 of TATA IPL 2024 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After Winning the match, Gujarat Titans (GT) jumped to the 8th position in the latest IPL Points Table 2024 with 10 points but they are almost out of the race for the TATA IPL 2024 Playoffs.
This match reminds the old memories of the IPL 2023 Final as the situation was quite similar but CSK failed to replicate the results. As of now, Chennai Super Kings have played 12 matches so far in the tournament and from which, they won six games whereas lost seven games therefore now, CSK have a decent NRR of +0.491.
After losing the toss, Gujarat Titans (GT) batted first and both the openers made history as they made a massive 210-run partnership for the first wicket. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan played superb cricket against Chennai Super Kings at their home ground, Shubman Gill scored 104 runs in 55 balls whereas Sai Sudharsan scored 103 runs in 51 balls.
Later on, David Miller played a small but impactful inning of 16 balls and led the Gujarat Titans (GT) to their highest total of 231 in the TATA IPL 2024. It was quite an unexpected performance by CSK bowlers as they failed to get early wickets, Tushar Deshpande took two wickets and he was the only bowler from CSK to get wickets in this match.
In the second inning, CSK had a poor start as they three wickets in just starting three overs of the inning but then, middle order batter Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali made a crucial partnership of 109 runs for the fourth wicket and led CSK back into the game. Mitchell scored 63 runs in 34 balls whereas Moeen Ali scored 56 runs in 36 balls however after these batters got out no other batters played a match-winning knock.
MS Dhoni too failed to finish the game hence CSK lost the crucial match and now, they have to win the remaining two matches to qualify for the IPL 2024 Playoffs. From the Gujarat Titans bowling unit, Mohit Sharma took three wickets whereas Rashid Khan got two wickets in this match.
