Mayank Agarwal was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2022. But Pat Cummins didn’t use him much, and he warmed the bench for most of the 2024 season. He is likely to be released by SRH ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
He has only scored 530 runs in 27 games in the last three seasons, with an average of less than 20. And with other youngsters coming up, he might not get a buyer. Mayank PBKS in 14 games and is a former IPL captain.
2. Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane has been part of the IPL since the inaugural season in 2008. He has played for six different teams and was with Chennai Super Kings in the last three seasons. Rahane has captained Rajasthan Royals and Rising Pune Supergiants in the IPL.
He is cutting 36 and might not play for another three seasons. With age and his IPL form not on his side, there are chances that Rahane might go unsold at the IPL 2025 auction.
1. David Warner
It will be a massive surprise, but with other young opening options available for all teams, David Warner might have to face the axe. He has already retired from international cricket and didn’t play many games for DC in 2024.
He is one of the most successful IPL captains and led Sunrisers Hyderabad to the title in 2016. He has also led Delhi Capitals in the IPL. Warner has played 83 games as IPL captain and has a brilliant batting record. But the IPL 2025 might see him getting unsold.
