CSK VS MI
QDK was looking well set for a good score but eventually was out!

The “El Classico” of 2021 ended in the fashion it was expected to be in. The Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians by 20 runs in order to grab 2 points. This game turned out to be like any other Chennai Vs Mumbai game that went down the wire. The initial part of the game saw Mumbai on top but the Chennai boys made a comeback to take the game away. During the game Ambati Rayudu and Deepak Chahar faced niggles. Rohit Sharma was rested for this game and so was Hardik Pandya. Anmolpreet Singh and Saurabh Tiwary replaced them. Here’s a look at how the game panned out: –

Mumbai Indians VS Chennai Super Kings: –

The first innings began on a sour note for the boys from the south. It looked like a repeat of last year. Chennai lost Faf early in the innings who went back without troubling the scorers. The score read 1-1. The next to walk back was Moeen Ali. He was out and the scorecard displayed 2-2. It was seeming more like a football game! But this was just about the beginning. The next into bat was Ambati Rayudu. Ambati took a blow to his elbow from a ball that took off from the pitch. It was unexpected. He had to leave the field in pain.

Dwayne Bravo bought the Caribbean flavor to this contest.

Suresh Raina stepped in next but he too perished early. 7-3, Chennai is in trouble. MS walks out to bat. Dhoni looked solid at the beginning of his innings but played a loose pull shot that went to Trent Boult. The shot was unneeded in this pressure situation. Ruturaj, later on, saved the Chennai innings from a terrible performance. He along with Ravindra Jadeja stitched a partnership. Ruturaj reached his fifty in the 16th over. Jadeja however had to walk back but by the time he went back his job was done. Bravo came in next and talked a quick-fire 23 of 8 balls. Bumrah and Boult leaked a few runs in the death overs as Chennai secured a 156-6 total.

Mumbai Indians VS Chennai Super Kings: –

Experienced campaigner Saurabh Tiwari tried to get Mumbai Indians through but it just wasn’t enough!

Mumbai on the other hand got a solid start with the bat. Quinton De Kock was looking in good touch. QDK even played a ramp shot to score a boundary. Anmolpreet, the youngster too looked comfortable at the crease. Anmol smoked Josh Hazelwood for 3 boundaries in 1 over. But the Super Kings pounced back. They came back in such a fashion that it took the game away from the Mumbai lads. Quinton De Kock soon perished and so did Surya. Deepak picked up both the openers. While Shardul sent back Surya. Ishan Kishan did try to save the innings from a collapse but ended up in a soft dismissal.

Pollard walked in next when MI was 4 down. The pressure was on the Blues. And even the stand-in captain Pollard didn’t bear the heat. Polly was caught LBW by Hazelwood. Saurabh Tiwari tried to hold on end but he was running out of partners from the other end. Krunal Pandya was sent back due to miscommunication and an eventual runout.

In the end, Mumbai fell short of 20 runs and Chennai won the game. The pick of the bowlers for Chennai was Deepak Chahar. But he picked up a niggle in the far end of the innings.
