IPL 2024 Points Table After MI vs LSG: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) in match no.67 of TATA IPL 2024 by 18 runs at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This was the last match of both the teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 but for MI it will be a nightmare season for them as they finished in 10th position in the latest IPL 2024 Points Table with 8 points and have a poor net run rate of -0.318.

However, Lucknow Super Giants played decent cricket in this tournament but they too failed to utilize the chance to get into the Top 4 positions in the IPL 2024 Points Table. A total of 14 matches were played by LSG this season and they won seven games therefore they have 14 points in the IPL 2024 Points Table which is the same as CSK but LSG has a very poor NRR of -0.667.

After losing the toss against Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants batted first but they had a poor start in the first powerplay as they were able to score only 49 runs. However, Skipper KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran made a crucial partnership of 109 runs for the fourth wicket in the middle overs and led LSG to dominate the MI bowlers.

Nicholas Pooran played a stormy inning of 75 runs in just 29 balls with 8 sixes whereas KL Rahul played resposibily and kept rotating the strike therefore he scored 55 runs in 41 balls. In the death overs, Ayush Badoni played a small impactful and scored 22 runs in 10 balls. 

With this, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made a massive 214 runs on the scoreboard in 20 overs. From the Mumbai Indians bowling department, Piyush Chawla and Nuwan Thushara took three wickets whereas no other bowler got a single wicket in this match for their side.

In the second inning, Mumbai Indians had a wonderful start however this time, Rohit Sharma and Dewald Brevis came to open for the team. The Former Skipper Rohit Sharma played an excellent inning of 68 runs in 38 balls after having poor performances in the past few games. The South African youngster struggled a lot against LSG bowlers but he also scored 23 runs in 20 balls.

But, After these batters got out no other players from MI’s batting department took the responsibility and lost their wickets by playing wrong shots. In the end, Naman Dhir played a superb inning of 62 runs in 28 balls but it wasn’t enough to win the game whereas skipper Hardik Pandya scored only 16 runs in 13 balls.

From the Lucknow Super Giants bowling unit, Ravi Bishnoi and Naveen-ul-Haq took two wickets whereas Mohsin Khan and Krunal Pandya took one wicket each.

After the MI vs LSG match, there were no changes in the top 4 positions in the IPL 2024 Points Table but LSG surpasses RCB as they now have 14 points with an NRR of +0.387. However, Royal Challengers Bengaluru still have one match which they will play against Chennai Super Kings on May 18 at their home ground (M. Chinnaswamy Stadium).

Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad have already qualified for the IPL 2024 playoffs whereas RCB and CSK are competing for the fourth spot in the IPL 2024 Points Table. The Winner of the RCB vs CSK match will get into the top 4 and also qualify for the IPL 2024 Playoffs.
