IPL 2024 Points Table: Delhi Capitals (DC) Defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 20 runs at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in match no. 56 of TATA IPL 2024. It was a crucial victory for the Delhi Capitals and they are still alive in the race for the IPL 2024 Playoffs as they have 12 points in the latest IPL 2024 Points Table. RR is now in fifth position in the IPL 2024 Points Table as they have won six games in 12 matches played so far in the tournament.
Delhi Capitals had an excellent start while batting first as both the openers started aggressive cricket therefore DC scored 60 runs for the first wicket in just 4.2 overs. Jake Fraser McGurk played a stormy inning of 50 runs in just 20 balls whereas Abhishek Porel too played fantastic cricket and scored 65 runs in 36 balls.
After the openers got out, DC’s middle collapsed but Tristan Stubbs played a superb inning of 45 runs in 20 balls and led Delhi Capitals to a high total of 221 runs with the loss of wickets in 20 overs. From the Rajasthan Royals (RR) bowling unit, Ravichandran Ashwin took three wickets whereas Sandeep Sharma, Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal took one wicket each.
Rajasthan Royals failed to chase the massive target of 222 runs as Skipper Sanju Samson was the only batter from the RR side who fought against DC bowlers. RR’s openers got out early in the powerplay but later on, Sanju Samson showed his class and took Delhi Capitals bowlers in remand, he continuously knocking boundaries from one end.
But, the wickets were falling from the other end, therefore DC was dominating the game since the starting of the game. Sanju Samson played a fantastic inning of 86 runs in 46 balls with 8 fours and 6 sixes but failed to lead his team to victory. From the Delhi Capitals bowling unit, Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar took two wickets each.
