IND vs AUS BGT: Former Australian cricketer, Aaron Finch has responded emphatically to Sunil Gavaskar’s proposal that Jasprit Bumrah should be appointed as the captain of the Indian team for the entire Border-Gavaskar Trophy if Rohit Sharma is unavailable for the first Test.

As per various reports, Indian captain Rohit Sharma is likely to miss either the first or both of the first and second test matches, during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, due to personal reasons. Indian legend slammed Rohit by saying, the leadership should be completely handed over to Bumrah for all five Tests, as rotating the captaincy during a high-profile series like this is far from ideal.

He suggested the Indian chief selector Ajit Agarkar to keep Rohit Sharma, as a player and proceed with Jasprit Bumrah as the captain.

Aaron Finch defended the Indian captain by stating,

“I disagree with Sunny on that totally. Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Indian cricket team. If you need to stay at home because your wife’s going to have a baby, that’s such a beautiful moment and you take all the time that you need in that regard.”

As of now, Rohit Sharma will be leading the side in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah is the vice-captain. Bumrah would be leading the side as a captain, during the absence of Rohit Sharma.
