IND Vs AFG: Indian star batsman decided not to play the first T20 match against Afghanistan due to some of his issues: The famous experienced batsman of the Indian cricket world had returned to the T20I team for the first time after the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
King Kohli performs brilliantly in every format, as Rahul Dravid has confirmed to the media and sports news that Virat Will not participate in the first match of the series against Afghanistan.
He will not play the match due to some personal reasons and he also said that I will be available for the second and third T20 matches.
Rohit Sharma will again be seen leading the team in the T20I series against Afghanistan as all-rounder Hardik Pandya and three-sixty Suryakumar Yadav aka Sky are also nursing injuries. Whereas Afghanistan will be led by Ibrahim Zadran, as Rashid Khan is out of the game after his ankle injury and surgery and cannot play due to his medical condition not being good.
Speaking to the media ahead of the first T20I in Mohali, Dravid also confirmed that Rohit will be joined by Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top of the order.
“When you have such a squad, you have the flexibility to do what is in the best interest of the team. Nothing is closed but we’re happy with what Jaiswal has done as an opener for us. He gives us a left-hand combination as well at the top.”
Dravid also said that workload management was the reason behind the absence of Test stars Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja and clarified that Ishan Kishan is not available for selection yet.
"Ishan Kishan was not available for selection," the former Indian batter said.
"Ishan requested for a break, which we agreed in South Africa. We supported it. He has not yet made himself available."
These three T20 matches will be India’s last matches before the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean Islands and the United States. The second and third T20 will be played in Indore and Bengaluru respectively.
