The ICC T20 World Cup 2022 is around the corner. Many players have missed out on the World Cup due to injury. Many big names are expected to bid adieu to the T20 format after this tournament ends. The reasons for retirement can be many. It includes focusing on one format, avoiding politics, and genuine retirement too. Here is a look:

Shakib, the biggest name in Bangladeshi cricket has been playing for the men in green since 2005. He has been the top all-rounder on the globe, since the day he started playing. His dominance is unmatched. He has been on the road for Bangladesh always. And considering that he made it very clear that the 2023 World Cup would be his last venture, it will be safe to say that he might bid adieu to the shortest format to focus on the ODI format. He had one of the best ICC ODI World Cups in 2019. He scored 600+ runs and took 8+ wickets.

2) Rohit Sharma can Retire Post ICC T20 World Cup 2022:

The Indian team was revamped post the 2011 World Cup win. The Indian team management is craving a World Cup victory. If the team wins, a positive transition phase will take place, or else the management will sack Rohit Sharma and it will end on a sour note. Rohit is the only layer who was also a part of the Indian team in the 2007 T20 World Cup apart from Dinesh Karthik. These transitions or revamps happen for the better. So, it will be great on Rohit’s part if he would accept this decision graciously. Post the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, Indian cricket will change for the better.

3) Ben Stokes will Retire Post the World Cup:

Ben Stokes and the ECB are not always on terms. He has been publicly very critical of the behavior of the ECB towards the English players and how burdensome the game has become in the past few years. He has also addressed that the number of games has exponentially risen because the management wants to rake in more and more money at the cost of players’ health.

With that being said, Ben has already announced their retirement from the ODI format. The management might not consider him for the T20Is post the 2022 World Cup due to internal politics.
