Sunil Gavaskar comes with an out-of-the-box suggestion for Indian bowling combination in T20 World Cup 2024

Team India are all set to play their one-off warmup match before the start of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. They will be facing Bangladesh on Saturday at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. The Men in Blue are in Group A and will play three of their four matches at this venue. However, there are a number of things that need to be settled before India head into their first game. Rohit Sharma and co. will take on Ireland to open their campaign.

This match will be played on June 5. After that, India will be facing archrival Pakistan on June 9. However, India will look to try out all their main weapons in the warm-up match. Especially with their bowling combination. India have gone with three pacers and four spinners in their 15-member squad, and Hardik Pandya can be the fourth pacer. The batting unit looks settled with a few changes, but the big question is the bowling unit. Hence, Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar has come up with his suggestions ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.

T20 World Cup 2024: Sunil Gavaskar suggests 2 pacers and 3 spinners with Hardik Pandya as a bowling combination.

In an interview with Dainik Jagran, Gavaskar talked about India’s chances in the T20 World Cup 2024. He also spoke about what India should do in both departments. He also talked about the possible bowling combination that India can opt for. Gavaskar said that the pitches in West Indies are helpful for the spinners; hence, India should go with three spinners in the bowling lineup. He said, “Considering the pitches in West Indies, the attack has to be balanced. So three spinners and two fast bowlers, while Hardik Pandya can be the back-up pacer. To me, this will keep the balance of the side.”

Notably, considering the pitches, India have gone with four spinners in their squads. Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Yuzvendra Chahal are specialist spinners. On the other hand, India have picked three pacers, and then they have Hardik Pandya, who can be the backup pacer. Furthermore, Gavaskar highlighted that the pitches in the Caribbean Islands aren’t that hard anymore, where the pacers get a good bounce. He also talked about the Indian batting unit for the T20 World Cup 2024. Gavaskar said that India have picked a great squad that has a mix of experience and youth, and many of them have done well in the past.
