PSL 2025 Postponed : The decision to postpone PSL 2025 came recently after the ECB rejected PCB’s request to conduct some matches from Rawalpindi, Multan, and Lahore to the UAE.
The ECB also refused to allow Pakistan to host matches in the UAE due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. They said that allowing Pakistan to host matches in the UAE could affect their relations with the BCCI.
Earlier, the UAE had hosted IPL matches during the 2021 season, and UAE prioritized its diverse South Asian population’s harmony, avoiding friction. Due to these reasons, permission was not given to Pakistan.
PSL 2025 Postponed – Linked to Operation Sindoor
The decision to postpone PSL 2025 came after India’s Operation Sindoor, which was on 7th may when Indian did strike on terror camps in Pakistan and PoK.
This was in response to the Pahalgam attack. A suspected Indian drone damaged the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, after which the PCB had to cancel a match.
Some foreign players, including a few from England, were also present there and were concerned about their safety. That is why the PCB tried to move the matches to Dubai, but this plan was also rejected.

PSL 2025 Postponed – PCB Announces Postponement After High-Level Meeting
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, also Pakistan’s Interior Minister, announced the postponement of PSL 2025 after a meeting with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. They said the safety of the nation is more important than cricket.
Naqvi also expressed regret that fans will not be able to enjoy the matches in the stadium. The PCB had made a quick plan to shift the tournament to the UAE, but after its failure, the board is facing strong criticism. Many people are now calling Pakistan’s cricket management a circus.
