England tour to Bangladesh for three One Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals cricket match, originally scheduled to take place in September and October 2021.

Due to the Corona virus, many tournaments were either cancelled and some were postponed for some time, including the England tour to Bangladesh. However, the COVID outbreak within the bio-secure bubble did not work and the IPL season was suspended in May.

England’s managing director of men’s cricket, Ashley Giles, said earlier this year: “We will have to give some of these guys a break at one point. But for Bangladesh the intention would be not to give people a break.” For them to go and play cricket somewhere else.

The trip is scheduled to take place in the first two weeks of March 2023, with three ODIs and three T20Is to be held at SBNCS, Dhaka, and ZACS, Chattogram.

No official reason for the postponement was given in a brief statement issued by the ECB on Tuesday, although concerns about bubble fatigue and Covid restrictions remain.

The statement added that the governing body and the Bangladesh Cricket Board have “mutually decided to reschedule the tour”.

There is speculation that the move will free up some of England’s limited-overs players to take part in the second leg of the Indian Premier League, which will be held in the UAE from mid-September.
