AUS vs WI 2024: Australia Updated Squad for White-Ball Series against West Indies- Check The Players Added and Released From the Series: Cricket Australia (CA) announces the updated squad for the remaining white-ball series against West Indies after Australia Star batter Travis Head removed from the both ODI and T20I series against West Indies ahead of further more bilateral series later in the month.
Travis Head Played the first ODI match against West Indies at Melbourne Cricket Ground on February 02, 2024. However, Head was able to score 4 runs in 5 balls therefore Australian Team Management wants to try more players in his position and give him rest due to the workload in the upcoming months.
Travis Head has played phenomenal cricket in the past few months, especially in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 Final against India at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Travis Head played a fantastic and match-winning inning of 137 runs in 120 balls, which led Australia to victory in the ODI World Cup 2023.
Australian Pacer Josh Hazlewood will replace Travis Head but only for the second ODI match, which will be played on February 04, 2024, at Sydney Cricket Ground. Cricket Australia played a strategic move as Travis Head rested for the white-ball series against West Indies but later this month Australia will be playing a crucial series against New Zealand and Head will be added in that series.
Xavier Bartlett played superb cricket on his international debut as he took four wickets in the first ODI match. But, he is rested for the second ODI match whereas Spencer Johnson will join the squad for the third ODI as replacement however, Xavier Bartlett will be available for the last ODI match.
Currently, Australia is leading the three-match ODI series by 1-0 as they defeated West Indies in the first ODI match at Melbourne Cricket Ground by 8 wickets. Australian Youngster Xavier Bartlett was the player of the match in the first ODI at SCG. Australia is expected to win this series by 3-0 against West Indies.
