AUS vs IND: India started the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024/25 on a strong note at Perth after their huge carnage faced due to the home series clean sweep against New Zealand.

Australia bounced back with supreme form in the pink ball test at Adelaide while almost ceasing the Gabba test, which ended in a draw due to rain, and then followed with 2 more wins at the MCG and the SCG. Jasprit Bumrah, for his excellence, was given the Player of the Series. Bumrah seemed the most deserving candidate, as he single-handedly kept India’s hopes alive every time with the ball in his hand.

The Aussies have now retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a 3-1 advantage, and Pat Cummins will lead them to the WTC final for the second consecutive time. India, for the first time, has failed to reach the finals of the WTC.

South Africa, who have already qualified for the WTC final after their dominating series win against Sri Lanka and also their first test win at the Centurion against Pakistan, led them to advance to their first-ever WTC final.

The Aussies have also qualified for the WTC final after their dominating home series win against India, as they not only retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but also will get to defend the WTC title against South Africa at Lord’s.

India has been officially snubbed of the race to the WTC final, while Sri Lanka also does not have any further chances left, whatever the results of the upcoming test tour of Australia to Sri Lanka.
