ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Suryakumar Yadav: A unnoticed talent to India’s middle-order mainstay

SLvsIND: 5 Indian players who will be considered for the T20 World Cup squad.

SLvsIND: Although India vs Sri Lanka tour has been deferred for a couple of days following few covid cases in the oppositions camp, Shikhar Dhawan and his men will be high on confidence to give their best shot in the upcoming games.

As per the revised schedule, the tour will kickstart on July 18th with ODIs being played out at first.

The island nation tour will be more of an audition for players who might get a direct ticket in India’s T20I squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

The selectors, who have travelled with the second-string Indian team, will keep their sharp eyes on the players and their performances.

In this article, we will take a look at the most probable players who will be considered for India’s T20 World Cup squad.

SLvsIND: 5 Indian players who will be considered for the T20 World Cup squad:

Sanju Samson:

The wicketkeeper-batsman will have his chances to perform and get a slot booked for the World Cup. Samson has consistently shown his calibre in the domestic T20 leagues and in IPL, however, the cricket has failed miserably in international matches.

Team India will be looking for a backup wicketkeeper for Rishabh Pant and Samson will be a good choice. But a lot will depend on his performance in the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.

Ishan Kishan:

For the option of a backup wicketkeeper-batsman, Mumbai Indians (MI) Ishan Kishan will be another probable choice on the table.

The southpaw performed brilliantly in his debut T20I series against England earlier this year. Ishan Kishan smacked a half-century in his maiden T20I game.

The selectors might pick Ishan Kishan ahead of Sanju Samson due to his consistency which he often shows in the IPL matches for Mumbai Indians.

Varun Chakravarthy:

Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy will be a great addition to India’s T20 squad if he performs well on the Sri Lankan soil.

The spinner in the eyes of selectors for a long time now and might make it to the squad owing to his consistency. He was earlier picked for a couple of tours but got ruled out due to injury concerns.

Indian spin options will get a boost if Chakravarthy gets his ticket for the World Cup.

Deepak Chahar:

The swing bowler Deepak Chahar will be another option in front of the selectors to pick.

Chahar has been CSK’s premier bowler for years now and has a knack of providing initial breakthroughs. He can swing both ways and trouble the batter during the initial stages of the innings.

Even if the selectors pick him for the World Cup squad, the pacer is unlikely to receive a ball ahead of his senior pacers.

Suryakumar Yadav:

The BCCI and the selectors will have their watchful eyes concentrated on batsman Suryakumar Yadav in the upcoming India vs Sri Lanka white ball series.

If there is one who could surely cement his place in the squad and probably fetch a place in the final 11, he is Suryakumar Yadav.

With Virat opting to open with Rohit Sharma, the slot at number three opens up where Suryakumar Yadav can be a great addition for India.

He has proved his mettle in the limited-overs series against England, earlier this year and needs one final push to knock the doors of selectors.
