The Indian Cricket Team is looking to make a balanced ODI team before the ODI World Cup 2023 begins. The tournament will be held in India, and this will be India’s best opportunity to get its hands on the prestigious trophy. In its quest, making the right team is very essential. So, who are the crucial players? Who are the players that will be key to ensuring good balance in the team? Here is a look:

Ravindra Jadeja:

The balance in the team is given by all-rounders. These are players who give us both the skill sets and are true assets on the field. Ravindra Jadeja is one of the best fielders in the world. Jadeja and his fitness are not an issue until he experiences a major injury. He has always been available for national duties. One can never forget his lone-warrior approach in the semi-final against New Zealand in the 2019 ODI World Cup.

Hardik Pandya is key for the ODI World Cup 2023:

From one Gujarati all-rounder to another, Hardik is also essential to the team. He is always in the scheme of things of the white-ball format if he is fit. There isn’t any other big match player than Hardik Pandya in the line-up. When the crucial games arrive it is his performances that will make the difference. The BCCI trusts his abilities and this can be understood by the fact that he has been given the interim T20 captaincy. His fitness is an issue but if his workload is managed, Hardik will easily give the team 5 to 6 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah:

There is just one ace of pace in the Indian cricket team. Ever since he has been out due to injury we have tried to replace him but that hasn’t been possible. Arshdeep can bowl at the death, and Siraj can bowl in the powerplay but only Bumrah can do both with equal control. He is one of the most priced treasures of Indian cricket. He has an amazing arsenal of yorkers, wide-yorkers, slower balls, and cutters.

Suryakumar Yadav/Shreyas Iyer is key for the ODI World Cup 2023:

Suryakumar Yadav or Shreyas Iyer will be the backbone of the Indian middle order. Post the departure of Ambati Rayudu and Yuvraj Singh, only Iyer has managed to bat exceptionally well in the middle order. The other batters have been a hit or miss. Surya on the other hand has shown immense promise. He is a player that can be used to adapt to the “bazzball” style of play. He can also be used as a floater and can be asked to go “slam-bang” from ball 1! Both of them will be crucial for the ODI World Cup 2023.

Rohit Sharma/Virat Kohli is key for the ODI World Cup 2023:

When it comes to the big tournaments and crucial games there are just a few things that make a difference. One of those things is experience. Rohit and Virat are two of the most experienced players in this Indian team. Each of us knows what Rohit Sharma can do on his day. He can take the game away single-handedly. Also, his numbers in the 2019 ODI World Cup show us that he is a player for big events. Virat on the other hand has always done well in the big games in the T20 format. He just needs to emulate this in the longer 50-over formats. And the energy that Virat’s presence brings to the field is second to none.
