During the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. Dave Meltzer revealed that Brock Lesnar wanted to look as strong as possible in said match in order to prepare for his eventual clash with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38. This is what Meltzer pointed out:
«What happened with the Rumble is that Brock was going to kill everyone and that was probably Brock’s decision.
I was told that Brock was going to get exactly what he wanted, and that was to look as strong as possible heading into the Reigns match, but the idea was to give it to Drew.
«I mean, Brock was supposed to kill everyone in the ring, just like he did. But originally, Brock was going to inflict a lot more punishment on Drew. With Drew they had a good encounter in the fight where Lesnar won, but they were short of time and they were in a hurry to finish the show so that came to nothing
