With over 1500 games played and with a career spanning 24 years, Roger decided to call it quits.
He thanked his better half, Mirka Federer, for being with him through most of his career, through the ups and downs. Further, he had a special mention for his children. He also acknowledged the unmatched contribution of his parents and his sister. Further, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his coaches and his support staff. Later he thanked his opponents but the most important part of the note was where he thanked the fans for making him who he is.
He also expressed how fortunate he feels to have had the ability to play the game in its full bloom and how without the support of the Swiss Tennis association, it wouldn’t have been possible.
