With the kind of intent that India have now shown, winning the Asia cup is very much possible.

The Indian colts have qualified for the FIBA Asia Cup for the 10th consecutive time! This brings about some special news for basketball in India. India was also helped by Saudi Arabia, as the equation was such that if Saudi defeats Palestine, India qualifies. With Saudi beating Palestine, the numbers worked in favor of India and the team went through. India was down by 14 points but the lads kept their cool to beat Palestine 79-77. Here’s a look at how the game panned out: –

How the equation was: –

India was present in Group H in the qualifiers of the FIBA Asia Cup 2021. India lost its first game to Saudi by 80-61. After the defeat, India’s chances of qualifying seemed pretty slim. First, they had to beat Palestine and further expect Saudi to beat Palestine too. The same thing happened. India won against Palestine by 79-77 and Saudi defeated Palestine too. Based on this result, India has qualified.

A steady start to the fiasco meant that India was playing from the far end for most of the 40 minutes against Palestine. India was outscored 25-13 in the initial quarter and laid back by the biggest margin in the second quarter when Palestine took a 14-point lead. However, the Indian colts did lose their ground, and heading into the final quarter India kept it tight but was still behind by nine and that is when they stepped on the gas and outscored Palestine 27-16 to win 79-77.

Amritpal Singh was at the top of the scoresheet with 30 points and 12 rebounds. Amjyot Singh, the NBA G League prospect was second in the books with a total of 23 points and 10 rebounds. Joginder too scored 12 points and made a big difference. All of Joginder’s points were from outside the circle.
