Team India’s bowlers should be handled with extreme caution during the forthcoming IPL 2023 season, the BCCI has cautioned IPL clubs.

With Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishan, and Rishabh Pant being ruled out of the World Test Championship Final, India are already dealing with something of an injury crisis. The BCCI is also keeping an eye on the fitness of several contracted players and issuing guidelines for the same as the 2023 ODI World Cup is set to take place later this year.

“Franchises have been told that the Indian team bowlers should be especially used with caution. IPL teams should not over-bowl them in the nets. They can focus more on strengthening and training. Players can do fielding drills but till the first week of May, franchises shouldn’t push them, BCCI told”.

As part of India’s World Cup shortlist during the IPL 2023, the BCCI has advised teams to refrain from overusing bowlers. The Indian Cricket Board has imposed severe workload management guidelines in response to the rising number of injuries. Through a Zoom call, NCA physio Nitin Patel and India’s strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai informed the franchises.

As a result of the injuries suffered by Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna, attention has been placed on the remaining members of the Indian bowling attack. The franchises have already received a workload management report from NCA that serves as guidance.

Throughout the first part of the competition, the physios advise players like Shami and Co. to concentrate more on strength and fitness. In May, bowlers can increase their bowling time in the nets. Jasprit Bumrah and Deepak Chahar have paid the price for a hurried return over the past six months.

The NCA’s attempt to hasten Ravindra Jadeja’s entry into competitive cricket caused even his return to be postponed. With the WTC Final and the ODI World Cup approaching, the Indian cricket board is now adopting a cautious stance.

On March 31, Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings square off to start the IPL 2023. The IPL final is set to be played on May 28, barely a week before the World Test Championship Final. The WTC Final between India and Australia will take place at the Oval beginning on June 7.
