WTC Final 2023, Ishan Kisan replaced Injured KL Rahul: The BCCI announced the KL Rahul’s replacement for the WTC Final on Monday. Ishan Kisan is selected to replace KL Rahul for the WTC Final against Australia.
Ishan Kisan has been chosen as the replacement for KL Rahul in India for the World Test Championship final squad against Australia. The WTC Final will be held at Oval Cricket Ground in London from 7th June to 11th June.
Ishan Kisan was selected in the Border Gavaskar Trophy squad but did not get any chance to play any match. Now he has been selected for the WTC Final squad as a replacement for KL Rahul.
Ishan Kisan and KL Rahul are both Wicketkeeper opener batsmen, that’s why the BCCI chose him in place of KL Rahul.
Ishan Kisan played 48 first-class matches in which he scored 2985 runs at an average of 38.70. He also took 99 catches and 11 stumping in his first-class career. In IPL 2023, Ishan Kisan played 10 matches in which he scored 293 runs at an average of 29.30 with two half-centuries.
Some Concern regarding WTC Final 2023:
Ishan Kisan is chosen as the second wicket-keeping option for the Indian team in the WTC Final. Wriddhiman Shah is on the list to be considered for the second Wicket keeping option. Still, the batting of Wriddhiman Saha is a major concern for the selector, so they decided to go with Ishan Kisan for WTC Final Squad.
Jaydev Unadkat is suffering from a left shoulder injury while bowling in the net for Lucknow Super Giants(LSG). He is already chosen as a part of the squad for the WTC Final, but due to injury, there are high chances to be removed from the squad. Shardul and Umesh Yadav are suffering from minor injuries during an IPL match of Kolkata Knight Riders.
Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, Middle order Batsman Suryakumar Yadav and Bowler Mukesh Kumar are standby players for the WTC Final.
