WPL 2025 Review: All teams' qualification chances, the first team to qualify for playoffs, Orange Cap, Purple Cap updates, Most Valuable Player, and many more
Women Premier League 2025 Qualification Scenario and More

WPL 2025: The Women’s Premier League 2025 has been very different from the previous editions since none of the sides has been one-sided winners in the competition. Every team has come forward to challenge each other on the field; even the defending champions, RCB, have struggled from time to time, while even UP Warriorz, the team consisting of largely inexperienced players, have made it to the limelight at times.

As of now, with the competition almost reaching its final stages and teams left with only 3 matches, UP Warriorz is almost knocked out of the race to the playoffs, while their chance would largely depend on the results of their next match against RCB.

Delhi Capitals have finalized their place in the playoffs; however, with all their matches over, they top the table with 5 wins and will be depending on other teams like Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians to finalize their last position on the points table.

WPL 2025 Qualification Scenarios:

Delhi Capitals—The Capitals have once again had one of the finest schemes in the history of this edition since they have already won 5 matches and are currently the top team with 10 points.

Meg Lanning-led Delhi Capitals have made it to the WPL finals both in 2023 and 2024, the first two editions of the women’s cricket league. The most consistent team might qualify for the WPL playoffs in the third season as well, and even under any circumstance, they will qualify as the second-position team in the points table.

Gujarat Giants—The Giants, with their recent victory over the Delhi Capitals, have gained an immense fan base and earned the faith of their fans. Under a new leader in Ash Gardner, who herself has been a stunning performer alongside other team members Beth Mooney, Deandra Dottin, and some of their Indian sensations Kashvee Gautam and Harleen Deol.

The Giants have been a surprising package, with 4 terrific wins in 7 games, and will play their final game against the Mumbai Indians. With a great run rate, their win can take them to the top spot of the points table, which might give them two chances to qualify for the first-ever finals of the WPL. Though even a loss in the last game would seal their spot at no. 3, considering RCB cannot surpass their high run rate.

Mumbai Indians—The winners of the very first edition of the WPL, the Mumbai Indians have been in some form, winning 4 of their 6 matches. The Mumbai Indians are yet to feature against teams Gujarat Giants and RCB; winning both can take them to the top of the table.

Losing both might let RCB fancy their chances over them in the points table. However, their qualification into the playoffs seems eminent. Even winning one and losing the other might take them over to the second spot or else the third spot on the points table.

Royal Challengers Bangalore— The defending champions from the previous season have struggled after winning their two opening games, with four losses in a row, all on their home ground in Chinnaswamy. RCB despite great efforts from their star Ellyse Perry.

RCB can still qualify for the playoffs if they go on to secure at least one win in the next two matches, most likely their biggest do-or-die opportunity coming against UP Warriorz tomorrow.

As of now, the top 4 teams, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Giants, and Royal Challengers Bangalore, are to head to the knockouts, that is, Qualifier 1, Eliminator, and Qualifier 2, before the two teams head to the finals.
