The Match between India and Sri Lanka was played at Wankhede Stadium and Sri Lanka won the toss, they decided to bowl first. While batting first, Team India lost the crucial wicket of skipper Rohit Sharma in the very first over of the match but after that, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill made a 189 runs partnership, which helped India to gain momentum in the match.
Virat Kohli scored 88 runs in 94 balls with 11 fours whereas Shubman Gill scored 92 runs in 92 balls with 11 fours and two sixes. In the end, Shreyas Iyer played a stormy inning of 82 runs and led Indian Team to a massive total of 357 runs in 50 overs.
From the Sri Lankan bowling department, Dilshan Madushanka got five wickets whereas Dushmantha Chameera took one wicket only. The poor fielding and leaking of runs put Sri Lanka on back-foot since the start of the match.
Sri Lanka came to bat in the second inning to chase the target of 358 runs but they got all out in just 55 runs as five players were out at duck.
The Indian bowlers’ dominating performance led Team India to win the match in just 19.4 overs. Mohd. Shami took second fifer in this tournament whereas Mohd. Siraj took three wickets. Siraj performance in this match was crucial for Team India as it will boost his confidence in the important matches like semi-finals.
