World Cup 2023: India Updated Squad, R. Ashwin Replaces Injured Axar Patel | Team India World Cup Squad: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made one change in the Final World Cup Squad. Ravichandran Ashwin has been included in the squad in place of Axar Patel.
In the Asia Cup 2023, Axar Patel got injured, and after his injury, Team India was looking for his alternatives, and they gave chances to Washington Sundar and R. Ashwin in the ODI series against Australia.
All the players are now fit, and they have played excellent cricket in the last few matches. Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer made their comeback after a long time, and they are now in great touch.
All Three players have shown wonderful intent and performed exceptionally well in the Asia Cup 2023. KL Rahul batted well and scored plenty of runs in the Asia Cup, whereas Jasprit Bumrah took early wickets and bowled well in the death overs.
Recently, India played an ODI series against Australia, and they won the series by 2-1. Australia performed well in the last ODI match, and they won the match by 66 runs.
Why Ashwin Replaces Axar Patel in the World Cup 2023 Squad:
While Playing the match against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup, Axar Patel sustained a left quadriceps strain and was unable to recover on time; hence got replaced by Ashwin.
Ravichandran Ashwin has played well in the ODI Series against Australia, and he took four wickets in just two matches. He played in the 2011 and 2015 ODI World Cup and performed well.
The addition of Ashwin to the World Cup squad will add more values. Team India was missing an off-spinner in the squad, and Now, this spot is filled as well. He came with years of experience and will be very dangerous in the Indian conditions.
India will start their World Cup 2023 journey on October 8, 2023, against Australia at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. There will be a good contest between the world’s top two teams.
